TOWER OF LIFE
The two greatest needs of humanity at this time are food and water. This is according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization based in Rome, Italy. Millions die from starvation, and millions more die from drinking unclean water.
The World Hunger Team “Tower of Life” seeks to change these outcomes dramatically. It combines two features in one unit: rainwater collection and food-growing.
WATER: The Tower of Life is a rainwater collection unit. It uses a very large 20’ x 20’ clear plastic tarpolin held up by tent stakes. The tarpolin directs the rainwater into a four-story series of water storage tanks. The tanks are all interconnected and store up to a massive 1,360 gallons of water. The water circulates constantly using solar-powered pumps and timers.
One-half of the top tier of the tower is dedicated to water purification. Here, all debris and foreign objects are removed from the water. Also here, the water is sterilized and purified using a low-wattage electrical unit that kills 100% of the pathogens.
FOOD: The Tower of Life unit also has 70 linear feet of growing trays. Plastic walls are snapped in alongside the water storage tanks, creating a 1’ deep by 1’ wide growing channels – on 3 different tiers. These trays are filled with cleaned local dirt. Seeds are planted, and the plants are watered and fed using a built-in drip irrigation system.
The other half of the top tier of the tower is dedicated to plant irrigation and feeding. Here, all-natural mineral nutrients are mixed with water and directed through the drip irrigation nozzles around each of the trays. The plants are fed and watered according to an optimal schedule, and the unit reliably produces high-quality, nutritious and organic food, year-in and year-out.
Because our initial target market is rural Africa, we have designed the unit to ship flat as a shrink-wrapped pallet. Drones can be used to deliver the unit to places where roads do not exist.
Our unit can be set up easily by unskilled workers. No electricity is needed, as all components are powered by solar panels. The unit can be installed quickly and will start producing food within 30 days of set-up.
We have received a provisional patent on the “Tower of Life” and will shortly complete the application for our non-provisional patent.
We are currently investigating a wide array of services to help us obtain the funding needed to bring this project to fruition.
