MISSION 5: LOW-COST MODULAR CHICKEN COOPS
Many people around the world suffer from a lack of adequate protein. Doctors say that people should get a minimum of 10% of their daily calories from protein. More than just an inconvenience, protein deficiency can affect almost all aspects of body function.
World Hunger Team is working with experts in the poultry industry to develop a low-cost modular chicken coop system. The individual components are made of recycled plastic, and designed to be shipped flat. This means that the coop materials can actually be palletized and dropped from the air into inaccessible locations, using either helicopters or drones.
The goal of our system is to focus initially on layers, providing a great many eggs to the local community. The chicken feed will be grown at the location, using a variety of plants: Lupin grain, pulses and seeds, lentils, sunflower, millet and other cereal grains, etc. Some require hulling, some require special processing, but overall we can grow a sufficient blend to make 100% of our feed needs.
